Improvisation no.1

piano improvisation

I sometimes think all of music is improvisation of one form or another. Improvising has taught me a lot about music and myself and is perhaps the place where I feel safest.

One evening, in the chapel of Robinson College, Cambridge, I sat down at the piano and played an improvisation, really enjoying the sounds, the space, the piano. The chapel has two awesome stained-glass windows by John Piper. I hope you find some light in this piece, some laughter, some hope perhaps even some Beauty.
