Playful Learning of Music
I am a teacher based in Deptford, Brockley and New Cross who offers lessons in piano, singing clarinet, organ and composition. I teach to enrich the world by empowering my pupils through play, since I believe it is in that playful state that we get the most out of whatever we do. Lessons are £40/hour. If you would Like to book a lesson, please fill out the form below. You can find out more about me here or on Facebook. If you would like to discuss lessons before booking, I would love to hear from you; feel free to email me.
‘We love having you as our piano teacher – it has revolutionised everyone’s experience of music!’ – Emily
‘Thank you very much for a great first lesson. Clara really enjoyed it and was excited to start her initiation into the mysteries of harmony and, more generally, to get back to the piano.’ – Tim
‘We are very impressed by the way you handled the children and show them the joy of music. Bravo!’ – Aiden
‘Very positive. Very engaging lesson with lots of new elements: aspects of fingering, lightness of touch, and tackling stuff that I though was beyond me in small bits which is inspiring and holds out hope for the future! Impressive and Kindly teacher.’ – Nickie
I primarily teach locally although I can travel to further reaches of London. I have been teaching since 2016 and would love to hear from you if you are interested in learning. I can also teach online, either partly or exclusively, if that is preferable for you. I teach all ages (from 1 to 100) and have experience working with neurodiverse children. My lessons are structured differently depending on what the pupil is looking to explore/get out of them – I provide tailor-made teaching notes to guide the pupil’s learning.
For me learning is all about play. It is in the joyous state of play that we unlock our innate capacity to learn. As far as possible I try to steer clear of conceptions of right and wrong music and instead emphasise personal expression. Music is an infinitely rich, beautiful and subtle world and I hope in my teaching to ignite a passion for it and help create bridges with which to explore its diverse landscapes.
